.Tom Mainguenaud (Angoulème VC)remporte le 17ème tour du Pays d’Orthe et Arrigans
Le peloton au départ sous les ordres de monsieur le maire de Saint Etienne D’Orthe avec Elian Maugenet (maillot blanc), Lionel Suhubiette (maillot vert), Matthieu Courjault (maillot à pois) et Gabriel Peyencet (maillot jaune) se lançait pour la dernière étape.
Après le contre matinal les écarts étaient minimes, il fallait se douter que les équipes des 2 premiers du classement général, l’équipe du CD 24 et celle du Pau Vélo 64 allaient se surveiller et profiter de la moindre faiblesse de l’autre.
C’est ce qui se produisit mais 2 jeunes coureurs espoirs très entreprenants vinrent jouer les troubles fêtes….
La palme aux jeunes attaquants!
Tom Mainguenaud était le premier à se lancer à l’attaque dès les toutes premières minutes de course.
Quelques courageux se lancèrent à la poursuite du coureur Charentais sans réussite avant qu’Erwan Souliè ne le rattrape après une dizaine de kilomètres.
« lorsque je l’ai vu revenir j’ai su que nous pouvions aller loin expliqua Tom Mainguenaud. Nous étions trop loin au classement général après le contre la montre ou nous avions perdu beaucoup de temps, nous ne présentions pas un gros danger si les équipes intéressées par la victoire au général faisaient œuvre commune.»
« Nous nous connaissons bien, nous avons souvent couru sur les mêmes courses, nous étions juniors en même temps et je connais ses qualités, ajoutait le coureur du CA Castelsarrasin, nous avons donc collaboré sans arrière-pensée.»
Leur avance mit longtemps à croitre, les coureurs du Pau Vélo 64 veillaient…
A mi-course le peloton n’était qu’à 18 secondes prêt à fondre sur les 2 échappés, puis l’écart remonta à une quarantaine de secondes. C’est le moment ou Mathis Fédrigo (Pau Vélo 64) se rapprocha seul du duo qui ne se désunissait pas. Le jeune Marmandais retrouve le goût de l’effort et son niveau.
Hélas il ne put pas combler totalement son retard, et ce fut le moment ou le peloton se fractionna pour se rapprocher encore un peu. On retrouvait là les premiers du classement général qui soudainement perdirent l’homogénéité de leur poursuite. Et l’écart ne fit que grandir !
Maiguenaud et Soulié avaient compris l’intérêt de bien s’entendre !
L’étape pour Erwan Soulié (CA Castelsarrasin), le maillot jaune final du 17ème du Tour du Pays d’Orthe et Arrigans pour Tom Mainguenaud (Angoulème VC).
Pour les classements annexes, grimpeur, points chauds Tom Mainguenaud cumule, Cédric Bareille (meilleur jeune, maillot blanc), meilleure équipe Pau Vélo 64.
La 17ème édition de ce Tour du Pays d’Orthe et Arrigans géré de main de maitre par Jean Pierre Larrat avec l’aide indispensable de Madame et des membres du Peyrehorade SC a vécu une très belle édition, mais l’avenir s’assombrit …
